The National Service Authority (NSA) has directed all personnel undertaking their national service while simultaneously engaged in full-time employment to regularise their status or face strict sanctions.

In a statement dated Monday, May 19, 2025, the Authority instructed such individuals to report to any of its Regional Offices nationwide or the Head Office in Accra without delay. "The National Service Authority (NSA) is cautioning all National Service Personnel who are currently undertaking national service but are also in full-time employment, especially within the public sector, to immediately report to any of our Regional Offices nationwide or the Head Office in Accra to regularise their status," it noted.

The directive follows the submission of enrolment lists from various service categories, General Enrolment (2024/2025), Nurses Enrolment (2025/2026), and Teachers Enrolment (2025/2026) to the Controller and Accountant General's Department for data matching and verification. "This warning follows the submission of the full enrolment lists of the underlisted service categories to the Controller and Accountant General's Department for data matching and verification," it noted.

According to the Authority, the ongoing verification exercise is aimed at uncovering individuals who are unlawfully receiving dual income both their employment salary and national service allowance in contravention of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119). "This exercise is aimed at identifying individuals who are unlawfully drawing dual income from both their employment and national service allowance in violation of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119)," it emphasised.
