A heavy downpour on Sunday, May 18, 2025, left several parts of the country, especially the Greater Accra Region, grappling with flooding and power outages. The intense rainfall, which lasted for several hours, rendered some roads impassable and submerged homes and businesses, disrupting daily life in affected areas.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), in a statement issued on Monday, May 19, confirmed that the storm caused flooding and led to outages within parts of its operational network.
As a precautionary measure, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) requested that power supply be cut to certain communities to prevent electrical hazards due to rising water levels.
The areas isolated include Borteyman Stadium, Affordable Housing, Borteyman Township, Little Roses, Lakeside, Nanakrom, Kissieman, Dome Pillar 2, Christian Village, School Junction and its Melcom branch, Nmaidzor Zoomlion, University Farms, Trasacco 3rd Gate, Legon Hill, Santoe, Blue Kiosk, Adenta ECG office, and Madina Islamic University.
