Michael Kpakpo Allotey, the Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), has held a crucial meeting with hawkers in preparation for a major decongestion exercise by the authority in the Central Business District (CBD) to begin on Tuesday, May 20.
The AMA plans to rid the city's major streets and markets of unauthorised vendors to improve traffic flow and sanitation.
According to a report by citinewsroom.com, the initiative forms part of a broader strategy aimed at improving sanitation and restoring orderliness in the capital city.
The mayor urged hawkers to cooperate with authorities, assuring them alternative market spaces would be provided.
