Adentan Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Ella Esiman Nongo, has announced that the Assembly will soon take firm action against illegal structures built on waterways, following the deadly floods that hit parts of Accra on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Madam Nongo said many residents remain trapped in their homes due to blocked drainages caused by construction on water channels. "As we speak, some people have been trapped in their homes.

Because a lot more people have built on our waterways, and that is not helping us.

So, what we intend to do is to take a very drastic decision against it.
