The Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service(GHS) have confirmed two additional Mpox cases, one in the Greater Accra Region and another in the Western Region, bringing the total number of infections in the country to four.
In a press release, health authorities announced that the latest cases have no epidemiological link to the previous infections, indicating separate instances of transmission.
The respective Regional Health Directorates have since activated public health measures, including extensive contact tracing, to prevent further spread.
Mpox, a viral disease transmitted through close contact with infected individuals, animals, or contaminated materials, presents symptoms such as rash, fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, low energy, and swollen lymph nodes.
