Majority Chief Whip and South Dayi MP, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has advised public officials-particularly those within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to be more mindful of their public actions and how Ghanaians perceive them.

Speaking on TV3's KeyPoints programme on May 17, Dafeamekpor said the controversy surrounding Acting Ghana Gold Board CEO, Sammy Gyamfi, and his dollar donation to Evangelist Nana Agradaa should serve as a cautionary tale for others in public service. "We get requests for assistance in many forms.

We pay school fees, hospital bills, light bills, every weekend, you have to attend many funerals and you can't leave without giving anything," he stated. "We must be guided as public servants and as NDC we must consciously pay attention these matters and even if you want to make a donation, you must wrap it or envelope it." Dafeamekpor described the incident as part of the learning curve for politicians, particularly younger ones navigating national politics. "Sometimes we fall into this judgement as public officers.

So, we all have to be careful.
