At least 2, 241 foreign beggars from various strategic locations in Accra have been arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service, in a major swoop in the capital.
About 384 adult males, 525 adult females, 577 male children, and 755 female children from eleven locations across the capital were captured in the major operation.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, May 16, the Head of Public Relations, Michael Amoako-Atta, announced that buses have been made available to transport the individuals back to their respective countries after profiling is completed.
The swoop, which was conducted on Friday morning, targeted areas such as Kotoka International Airport, Madina, Kaneshie, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, and Abossey Okai. "As we speak, we have arrested 2,241 foreign nationals, made up of 384 male adults, 577 male children, 525 female adults, and 755 female children.
