The second edition of the Ghana Automotive Summit 2025 to highlight the progress and potentials of Ghana's automotive sector, has been launched.The day's programme on the theme "Towards the Future of Mobility," is scheduled for June 3, 2025 in Accra.The event aims to showcase the achievements being made by vehicle assemblers in the country, and the types and number of brands and models assembled locally.The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, in remarks made on her behalf at the launch in Accra on Tuesday, said the government was committed to promoting the automotive industry.The minister, therefore, entreated players in automotive industry to take advantage of the programme to showcase their products.The President of the Automobile Assemblers' Association of Ghana, Kassem Mi Odaymat, said the initiative was not only about promoting locally assembled vehicles but also about demonstrating the long-term vision for job creation and industrialisation."The more vehicles we assemble here, the more jobs we create," he said, adding that component manufacturing could generate 10 to 20 times more jobs than assembly alone.He said the summit would provide updates on the implementation of the Ghana Automotive Development Policy which began four years ago.Mr Odaymat said access to affordable auto finance and the influx of used vehicles remained a challenge to the automotive industry, adding that the summit would discuss innovation and future trends in the industry.The Managing Director of Toyota Ghana Company Limited, Yanaka Khoji, said the summit reinforced the industry's commitment to Ghana's Automotive Development Policy, adding that company supported the development of the automotive policy.He said industrialisation and improved income would financially empower the citizens to be able to afford new brand cars.
