The Rotational Nurses and Midwives Association of Ghana has issued a one-week ultimatum to the ruling (NDC) government to address the delay in the payment of their allowances.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the National President of the association, Ebenezer Boateng, indicated that most nurses and midwives are frustrated over the development.

According to him, they have not received their allowances for over a year, despite consistently showing up at their facilities to carry out their duties. "We've been diligently working since May 2024 - almost a full year - without receiving financial clearance, thereby depriving us of our rightful allowances," Boateng lamented.

Boateng attributed their current situation to a troubling pattern of systemic failure, noting that they faced similar challenges under previous governments, with no concrete steps taken to resolve their longstanding concerns. "These repeated delays reflect a broader pattern of neglect that has persisted for over four years, with little to no meaningful intervention from the Ministry of Health," he said.
