More than 14,000 teenage pregnancies were recorded in the Bono Region between 2021 and 2024, according to the Deputy Director of Nursing Services (Public Health), Rita Adjoa Ansong.
She made this known during a recent stakeholders' meeting in Sunyani, organised by the Bono Regional Directorate of Health, as part of the African Vaccination Week (AVW) and Child Health Promotion Week (CHPW).
She also disclosed that the region recorded a total of 14,887 teenage pregnancies over the three-year period, according to a report by myjoyonline.com.
Rita Ansong further disclosed that 1,188 abortion cases involving girls aged between 15 and 19 were also recorded.
