The Minister for Trade, Industry, and Agribusiness, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, says the government lacks the authority to compel traders to reduce prices, despite recent gains in the Cedi's value and declining inflation.
She explained that Ghana's liberalised market economy does not permit direct government intervention in price setting.
Instead, she said, constructive engagement with industry stakeholders remains the best approach to achieving price relief for consumers.
