A 23-year-old cashier, Andy Tetteh, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labour by the Kaneshie District Court One after pleading guilty to stealing GH¢8,575.00 from his employer and using the money to place sports bets, which he ultimately lost.

Tetteh was employed as a cashier at Bingo Bets, a betting company located at Ecomog, Adabraka.

According to Police Chief Inspector Achana Apewah, the incident took place on April 30, 2025, when Tetteh received cash payments totalling GH¢8,575.00 from customers placing bets.

Instead of accounting for the funds, he diverted the entire amount into his personal betting activities in an attempt to increase the money.
