President has re-nominated Felix Odartey Lamptey as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Weija-Gbave Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region.
This was announced in a press statement dated Monday May 12, 2025 and signed by the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim. "The President in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016, (Act 936) has re-nominated Felix Odartey Lamptey as the Municipal Chief Executive for Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly pending approval of the Municipal Assembly", it noted.
The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly voted against the nomination of Felix Odartey Lamptey as Municipal Chief Executive.
Lamptey, the 2024 Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the area, garnered only 9 out of 19 votes-failing to meet the two-thirds threshold required for confirmation.
