Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he described as "opportunistic politics" following its call for the suspension of Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board and National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu, Kwakye Ofosu questioned the sincerity of the NPP's stance, suggesting their recent condemnation of Gyamfi's conduct lacks credibility given their own track record in government. "The moment the NPP jumps into this, you know that they're just dabbling in opportunistic politics. "They don't believe in any of the principles they're espousing.
If you look at their conduct and behaviour in government, this is not a party that has any respect for modesty or even decency in public office," he said.
He went on to draw a comparison with past scandals that received no comment from the ruling party, notably the case involving former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah. "It will be interesting to hear anything the Minority, then the Majority or the party as a corporate body, said on other matters that happened. $1 million that was found under Cecilia Dapaah's bed, they didn't say anything, why have they suddenly found their voice in this matter?
