Legal expert, Robert Nii Arday Clegg has emphasised that there is no ambiguity surrounding the outcome of the defamation case brought by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas against former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Monday, May 12, Clegg responded to public debate surrounding the U.S.
court's decision to drastically reduce the damages awarded in the case-from $18 million to $500.
Despite the change in monetary compensation, Clegg underscored that the court's core ruling remains unchanged. "The legal conclusion is simple," Clegg said. "It is Anas who went to court and he said, 'Honourable Ken Agyapong has defamed me.' The jury reviewed the facts and agreed-Kennedy Agyapong has defamed Anas.
