Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak, has called on the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to take swift action against evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa, for failing to pay taxes on a lavish cash gift she gave in a now-viral video.

Reacting to the footage showing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi receiving foreign currency from Agradaa, Ras Mubarak stressed the legal obligation to pay gift taxes, regardless of the circumstances. "On Mama Pat 'Agradaa,' she has to pay gift tax.

It's the law," Mubarak said in a post. "The Ghana Revenue Authority must go after Agradaa for the tax component on the gift." He insisted that the enforcement of tax laws must apply to everyone equally, including high-profile personalities and clergy figures. "There can be no sacred cows," he added.

Beyond the tax issue, Ras Mubarak criticized the optics of the cash gift, suggesting that such public displays of foreign currency could send the wrong signal about Ghana's confidence in its own economy. "You cannot defend or justify a public office holder giving away forex, especially at a time the cedi is doing well," he noted.
