Every year on Mother's Day weekend, former presidential staffer Charles Bissue honours his late mother's memory by paying the hospital bills of mothers who have just given birth, a tradition inspired by his own birth story and the challenges his mother faced.
His latest gesture of kindness took place at the Essikado Government Hospital in the Western Region, where he settled the bills of all mothers who delivered between Friday, May 9, and Sunday, May 11, 2025.
In an audio message, Bissue shared the emotional story behind his commitment to supporting mothers. "I was born on February 14, 1973.
At the time, my mother was heavily pregnant, and my father didn't have money, so he traveled in search of work.
