President John Dramani Mahama has extended warm Mother's Day greetings to Ghanaian mothers, with a special tribute to Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who is currently recovering from an illness.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang was reported to have suffered a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, 2025, and subsequently sought medical attention at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the following day.
Government noted in the statement that medical experts advised the Vice President to seek further treatment abroad as a precautionary measure to support her full recovery.
Following medical advice, Prof Opoku-Agyemang commenced a three-week medical leave on April 7, 2025, prioritising her health and well-being.
