The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has raised concerns regarding the ongoing meter replacement programmes by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO).
The Commission has identified significant issues that could potentially disrupt services for customers.
To mitigate these disruptions, PURC has urged customers to request identification from utility personnel who visit their premises for meter replacement; ensure that the personnel provide a copy of the utility's notice of meter replacement in their localities and request that the personnel take a final reading of the old meter in your presence.
It also asked customers to sign and keep a copy of the meter replacement form to resolve any potential billing disputes as well as ensure the personnel complete a utility meter replacement form in their presence, accurately capturing the old meter number and final reading.
The PURC emphasised the importance of these steps to ensure transparency and accuracy in the meter replacement process.
