The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced a ban on drumming and noise-making from May 12 to June 12, 2025, as part of cultural observances leading up to the Homowo Festival.
In a statement signed by Public Affairs Head Gilbert Nii Ankrah, the AMA said the restriction, aimed at preserving peace and tradition, affects all individuals and institutions within its jurisdiction, including Gamashie, Ablekuma West, and parts of Kasoa.
Describing the period as "a sacred time of solemnity and spiritual reflection," the AMA directed churches to keep services confined indoors without musical instruments.
Loudspeakers outside religious venues, roadside evangelism, and open-air parties are also banned.
