There is reported heavy tensions at Bole District, in the Savannah Region, following the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Abdulai Mahamud as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.
According to a report by adomonline.com, some youth in the municipality took to the streets on Friday, May 9, 2025, burning tyres in protest of the confirmation.
The angry youth, according to the report, stormed the premises of the Bole District Assembly and have since issued threats to attack the homes of prominent political figures in the area, including President , and Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Sulemana Yusif.
The aggrieved youth, according to the report, are protesting the nomination and confirmation of Abdulai Mahamud on the basis that he is not well-known within the district and is being imposed on the community. "Mahamud, before becoming MCE, was saying that it is high time the Mole people disassociate themselves from the Gonjas.
