Henry Nana Boakye, widely known as Nana B and National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has launched a strong critique of President John Dramani Mahama's early performance in office, accusing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of failing Ghanaians just four months into its administration. "I knew the NDC would disappoint, but I didn't expect it to happen this early," Nana B said on the Asaase Breakfast Show, expressing dismay over what he described as a growing list of unfulfilled promises and policy reversals.
He pointed to worsening environmental degradation, poor economic management, and hypocrisy in governance as clear signs of a government that is more concerned with appearances than action. "Waters are drying up, pollution is worse, and yet they are failing to act decisively," he said, adding that despite repealing some levies, the government had increased electricity and water tariffs by 14% and 4%, respectively. "You scrap some taxes and then raise utility costs.
Ghanaians are worse off now." Nana B took further aim at what he sees as a betrayal of the NDC's own standards while in opposition. "They held press conferences on riverbanks in opposition; now they hold them in five-star hotels.
This is all about optics, not action," he said.
