The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has reported a significant drop in prank calls made to its emergency lines, recording a 31.52% reduction in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the report for 2024.

Speaking on Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily on Friday, May 9, ADO 1 Derrick Elorm Adzokpa of the GNFS Public Relations Department described the decline as a positive shift in public behaviour, while warning that prank calls remain a major obstruction to emergency response. "The prank calls are killing us.

But within the first quarter of the year, compared to last year, prank calls have reduced by 31.52%.

It means people are now understanding the effects and implications of these calls." He attributed the improvement to growing public awareness as well as consistent education by the Service.
