The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) on Thursday, May 8, welcomed a new era of leadership as Air Commodore David Anetey Akrong officially assumed command of the Centre, following a colourful handover ceremony from outgoing Commandant, Major General Richard Addo Gyane.
The high-profile event, which blended military tradition with celebratory pageantry, marked the transition of command from one of the Ghana Armed Forces' most distinguished officers to a new leader widely regarded for his strategic vision and dedication to peacekeeping advancement.
Air Commodore Akrong's appointment comes at a time of growing international focus on peace operations, and his leadership is expected to build on the strong foundation laid by Maj Gen Addo Gyane, whose tenure was noted for institutional transformation and infrastructural renewal.
In his remarks during the ceremony, Maj Gen Gyane praised his successor as a capable leader with a strong sense of purpose, and urged him to lead inclusively while harnessing the diversity and expertise of KAIPTC's team.
