The Renal Patients Association has bemoaned the frequent closures of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital's Renal Unit, attributing the disruptions to inadequate equipment and a lack of essential medical supplies.
Korle-Bu Renal Unit have resumed, following a one-week suspension that left many patients without treatment.
Speaking on Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, May 7, the President of the Association, Kojo Baffour Ahenkora, expressed frustration over the recurring situation and its impact on patients who depend on regular treatment. "They need to have more consumables available all the time because emergency cases are brought in, sometimes they are being referred from 37 Military Hospital, Police Hospital, and other hospitals for referral.
And if the person comes, doctors diagnose them, they need to put them on the machine.
