Michael Kpakpo Allotey has been unanimously confirmed as the new Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), earning all 30 valid votes cast by Assembly Members during a Special General Assembly Meeting at Accra City Hall.
The election, supervised by the Electoral Commission, marked a 100% endorsement-far surpassing the required two-thirds threshold under the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).
The confirmation was celebrated with drumming and cheers, symbolizing unity among Assembly Members, government appointees, traditional leaders, and residents.

"This is the centre of Greater Accra," she emphasized, urging the members to support the President's nominee and uphold their constitutional mandate.In his acceptance speech, Mr Allotey thanked God and expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity. "I thank the President for entrusting me, a young man from North Kaneshie, with this responsibility," he said.
