The Minority Leader in , , has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, calling for an investigation and disciplinary action against a police officer who allegedly assaulted him during the "Save the Judiciary" demonstration held at House, on Monday, May 5 ,2025.
According to him, the officer, identified as Constable Forson, who was stationed at the entrance of House to provide security during the demonstration, assaulted him. "Constable Forson assaulted me at the entrance of House during the demonstration," he indicated.
In a press release dated May 5, 2025, Afenyo-Markin alleged that Constable Forson, a tall, fair, and heavily built officer, deliberately struck him on the chest without provocation.
Afenyo-Markin has urged the IGP to address the incident promptly to ensure accountability and, crucially, to correct what he described as "misleading narratives circulating in the public domain" about the circumstances of the incident. "To address this incident and to correct misleading narratives circulating in the public domain, I have issued a public statement detailing the events as they occurred," he said.
