Inmates of the Agape Children's Home at Oyarifa in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region were last Thursday given a treat by Marie Noelle's Beauty Academy, as part of this year's May Day Celebration. The inmates, numbering more than 40 with their caregivers and administrators were offered a full grooming session including, braiding of hair, washing, barbering of hair, manicure, pedicure and massaging.Organised on the theme: "Promoting Inclusiveness through Relaxation for a Healthier Well-being" the inmates were also fete after the grooming.Speaking to journalists after the event, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Marie Noelle's Beauty Academy, Mrs Marie Noelle Yakubu said the event was their own way of giving back to society. She explained that having operated for the past 16 years, it was only appropriate that the institution offered back to society as a means of celebrating and sharing in its achievements.Mrs Yakubu said prior to establishing the beauty academy, she operated two spas at Kuku Hill in Osu and East Lagoon on Garden Street, however, the decision to open the academy was because a number of spas were springing up in the country with most of them operating with individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills .This she said necessitated the need to offer training and skills for the emerging trend to ensure that persons venturing into it had the required skilled manpower to handle their services for them.Mrs Yakubu said though the academy started with less than 40 students, the number had grown to about 180 now, implying that skills training was very essential for the youth. She explained that the choice of Agape Children's Home for their maiden Corporate Social Responsibility gesture was not only to show love, but also to show to the whole world that underprivileged children equally deserved to be good looking and kempt."I always say that one of my callings is to make sure that everybody looks good around me, everybody is happy.

So I decided, no, no, no, no, no.

We wouldn't let this May Day pass without touching the lives of these young children and their caregivers," she stressed. On her part, the Administrator of Agape Children's Home, Ms Tania Konto expressed her gratitude to Marie Noelle's Academy for the gesture. She said the joy on the faces of the inmates clearly showed how invaluable the treat was to them.Ms Konto explained that this was the first time such a service had been rendered to the kids and their caregivers."We've had individuals come in.

People that work for different people.
