Bright Ofori Ampofo, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro constituency, says about 60% of the party's grassroot supporters regret not participating in the 2024 general elections.
He attributes this regret to the recent suspension of the Chief Justice, which he calls a grave injustice that spurred the party's base and allied groups to join Monday's, May 5, protest. "I can tell you about 60% of our core grassroots supporters, have regretted not voting because this is not what they were expecting," he said in an interview on the Channel One Newsroom on Monday, May 5.
Ampofo also noted "When injustice is going on, everybody should be worried.
The mobilisation - we just had to go to our grassroots, tell them what is going on, and the fact that we cannot keep silent about it and we need to speak up brought out the numbers." Addressing claims that the demonstration was financially motivated, he emphasised, "You saw the numbers on the street.
