The Member of for Weija-Gbawe, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, led some protestors in chants and songs during the "Save the Judiciary Demo" held on Monday, May 5, 2025.
The demonstration, organised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a coalition of political parties, including the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), National Democratic Party (NDP), and the People's National Party (PNP), was in response to the recent suspension of the Chief Justice.
The protesters expressed concerns over what they described as political interference in the judiciary, cautioning that the move threatened the independence of one of Ghana's key democratic institutions.
The suspension followed the establishment of a prima facie case in three separate petitions calling for the Chief Justice's removal.
