President John Dramani Mahama has paid tribute to journalists in Ghana and around the world in a message marking World Press Freedom Day, calling for continued support for a free and responsible media.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on May 3, President Mahama acknowledged the pivotal role the Ghanaian press plays in safeguarding the country's democracy, emphasising their efforts in holding leadership accountable and giving voice to the public. "As president of the republic, I join the people of Ghana in celebrating the vital role played by the Ghanaian media in stabilising our democracy," he stated. "From holding our leadership accountable to amplifying the voices of our citizens, your work is indispensable." Happy World Press Freedom Day to all Ghanaian journalists and others across the world.
