Legal academic and private legal practitioner, Justice Abdulai has dismissed the Ghana Bar Association's (GBA) recent resolution on the removal of the Chief Justice, describing it as legally unfounded and irrelevant to the constitutional process.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, May 3, Abdulai said the GBA's intervention lacks merit and should be ignored. "I completely disagree with the letter of that resolution," he said, adding "The argument being churned out is wrong.
I do not find any merit in the argument being made by the association." The GBA had raised concerns about the removal process, questioning whether it was properly initiated and urging strict adherence to constitutional provisions.
But Abdulai contended that the Bar's position has no legal effect and does not alter any decisions made by the executive or the Council of State. "It is much ado about nothing because it has no bearing on the decisions that have been made either by the Council of State or the executive," he said.
