The School Feeding Caterers Association has urged President John Dramani Mahama to immediately reverse the termination of their contracts, warning that the sudden decision will plunge them into financial crisis and contradicts promises he made during his presidential campaign.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, President, Nana Otu Sakyi-Amo, expressed disappointment and distress over the abrupt cancellations. "We are calling on the president because this is not the promise he gave to school feeding caterers. "During his campaign tour, he promised to put things in place, increase the feeding grants-which he has done-and ensure caterers are well taken care of," Sakyi-Amo said on the Channel One Newsroom on Friday May 2.
She said the termination notice has frustrated their plans, as many of her colleagues had borrowed money to purchase food supplies in anticipation of the upcoming school term. "I don't think he promised putting us into debts.
He didn't promise letting bankers hunt us from our houses because we borrow money to buy all these foodstuffs," he stressed.
