At the launch of the Blackstar Experience held at Blackstar Square in Accra on May 1, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama urged the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, to organize a special ceremony in honor of highlife legend Agya Koo Nimo.
He praised the musician as a living icon whose contributions to Ghana's palmwine music and cultural heritage deserve renewed recognition. "This is a man we must honour before he passes," Mahama stated. "We should not wait till they die and we go and cry at their funerals." However, Mahama emphasized that celebrating his legacy again while he is still alive would serve as a powerful reminder of the nation's respect for its cultural pioneers. "Let's honour him again before God calls him," he said, encouraging the ministry to take swift action.The Blackstar Experience, coordinated by highlife musician Rex Omar, aims to be Ghana's leading cultural engagement platform, showcasing the nation's rich arts, tourism, and hospitality.
