Kwesi Botchway Jnr, a member of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) communication team, has issued a statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the stabbing of a KNUST student during a party event at the Pentecost Church in Bantama, Kumasi.

Responding to widespread speculation that the victim, a Unity Hall (Conti) student and member of a Jama group, was attacked due to his affiliation with former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Botchway Jnr dismissed the claims as misleading and politically motivated. "The gentleman was not stabbed because he is a 'Ken supporter'," Botchway stated. "He was purportedly stabbed following a scuffle with a colleague after a Kumasi-based car dealer, popularly known as Maxxi, gave money to the Conti boys." He emphasized that the incident was not connected to Vice President Dr.

Mahamudu Bawumia or any of his supporters, adding that no evidence supports claims of political rivalry being the motive. "There is no basis to say he was stabbed by a Bawumia supporter.

The altercation appears to have been over money, not politics," he clarified.
