The Member of Parliament for Guan, Fred Kwesi Agbenyo, has called on the government to repurpose the stalled National Cathedral project into affordable housing for public sector workers.
Speaking in an interview on Citi TV, Agbenyo described the multi-million-dollar cathedral initiative as a failed investment that should be redirected toward a more practical use.
His suggestion comes in the wake of former Vice President Dr.
Mahamudu Bawumia's admission that the project - despite costing taxpayers $58 million - contributed to public discontent and the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) loss in the 2024 general election. "The investment that they made in the so-called cathedral - $58 million has gone down the drain.
