Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has urged the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) to maintain its commitment to the fight against illegal mining-commonly referred to as galamsey-regardless of which government is in power.
UTAG has been a vocal critic of the environmental and social damage caused by illegal mining, often calling for stronger enforcement and long-term policy solutions.
Speaking during an engagement with former UTAG National Chairman, Dr.
Harry Agbanu, in Accra, the Minister praised the Association's national leadership for its consistent and principled stance on the issue. "I want to particularly thank UTAG for the principled decision you have taken to fight galamsey.
