Private legal practitioner and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, has raised serious concerns over how seized narcotics are handled in Ghana, calling for greater transparency from the authorities.

Speaking on TV3's Keypoints program, Amaliba questioned the current processes surrounding the disposal of confiscated drugs. "I think that they need to tell us how these drugs are disposed of.

I want to know what happened to the earlier consignment, have they been destroyed?" he asked.

Amaliba's comments come in the wake of heightened activities by security agencies, who have made numerous arrests connected to drug trafficking in the last three months.
