Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku, has voiced his disappointment over the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) approach to internal reforms, describing the ongoing constitutional amendment process as premature and lacking direction.
His comments come in reaction to a recent memorandum issued by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong on April 25, 2025, in which the party called on members and identifiable groups to submit proposals for constitutional amendments ahead of an Extraordinary National Delegates Conference in July.
However, Davis Opoku questioned the basis for such proposals when the findings of a fact-finding committee, established to investigate the party's defeat in the last elections, have yet to be shared with members. "Surprisingly, the same party-of which we are all integral members-charged a committee to investigate the reasons behind our electoral defeat. "When the committee visited the Mpraeso Constituency, I had to rush down to meet with them and immediately return to Parliament to fulfil my duties.
That's how seriously I took the exercise," he said in a Facebook post sighted by MyNewsGH.
