The Ministry of the Interior in line with the Public Holidays Act has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday.

In a brief statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the day is statutory public holiday and should thus be observed as such. "The general public is hereby informed that Thursday, 1st May 2025, marks May Day (Workers Day), which is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country," the statement said.

A celebration of labour In Ghana, May 1st is observed as May Day, a statutory public holiday dedicated to commemorating the achievements of workers and the labor force.

Officially recognised as Workers' Day, it celebrates the contributions of workers to the nation's socio-economic development.
