Doreen Tachie-Donkor, a final-year Doctor of Optometry student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), is being widely celebrated for a remarkable medical feat-correcting a child's vision without surgery.

Her inspiring story was first shared on April 22, 2025, by the popular campus platform Voice of KNUST.

It quickly went viral, earning Doreen admiration across social media for her role in restoring a child's sight affected by Accommodative Esotropia-a form of strabismus where one or both eyes turn inward due to focusing efforts.

Working under the guidance of a team of senior optometrists, Doreen helped deliver a non-invasive solution that significantly improved the young boy's vision and quality of life.
