A suspected gunman has been arrested, and a cache of weapons and ammunition seized, following a cordon and search operation conducted by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Monday, April 21, 2025, was part of intensified security measures aimed at restoring calm in Bawku and its environs, which have been experiencing clashes and intermittent gunfire.
According to a statement from the GAF, signed by Brigadier General Eric Aggrey-Quarshie, Director General of Public Relations, troops deployed in Binduri heard sporadic gunshots from the Binduri Central Market area.
