The Nigerian gospel music scene has been hit with a deep sense of loss following the passing of renowned singer and ordained pastor, Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as Big Bolaji or "Big B." His family confirmed his death in a statement issued on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
According to the family, Big Bolaji passed away on Easter Saturday after a brief illness.
The news has left many in the gospel and Christian communities in shock, especially as the singer had only recently marked his 50th birthday."It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as 'Big B,' a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in both the church community, an ordained Pastor in the RCCG and a giant in the music industry and our community," parts of the family's statement read. "Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday, 19th April 2025, after a brief illness," the statement further revealed.
