The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Adentan, Akosua Manu, has called for the immediate dismissal of the Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, over threats to physically assault traders operating on pavements within the city's central business district if they fail to vacate the area within two weeks.

While speaking on Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, April 16, Akosua Manu expressed shock and dismay over the Mayor's statement and his insistence on defending it, despite widespread public backlash. "What I do not understand is that somebody put into a leadership role can stand in front of people to warn or threaten that physical assault will be a given.

And I am shocked to hear that when he was called, he reiterated the position that yes, he will," she said.

Akosua Manu pointed out that such a statement, especially when repeated, should have triggered swift action from the highest office.
