The Volta and Oti regions have successfully completed the confirmation of President John Dramani Mahama's nominees for the positions of Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs).
All the 18 MDCEs of the Volta Region and nine in the Oti Region were peacefully and overwhelmingly confirmed.
The Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu said the region was set to start the implementation of the government's development agenda as all the Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) succeeded in confirming the President's nominees for the positions of MDCEs.
Speaking at separate functions at Battor and Sogakope in the North and South Tongu districts to end the confirmation exercise of the MDCEs in the region, the Regional Minister lauded the display of patriotism by assembly members by confirming the President's nominees for the various assemblies without delay. "It is clear to me and all stakeholders that the assembly members of the region did not only endorse our MDCEs but you have also endorsed development, resetting the agenda of the government and more importantly you endorsed the new monthly allowance introduced by the government for assembly members," he stressed.
