The Minority Caucus in Parliament has called on the government to use part of the Contingency Fund to support market fire victims in order to help them get back to their businesses.

Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader, made the call during a visit by the Caucus to the Adum Blue Light fire disaster site, where they sympathized with the affected traders.

He pointed out that the extent of the destruction and the impact of the devastation required urgent support from the government, noting that the Contingency Fund was readily available for such emergencies.

Afenyo-Markin mentioned that although the NPP leadership had already visited the traders, the Minority felt it was important to also visit, sympathize with them, and show solidarity in the face of such a horrific experience.
