Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has made a heartfelt appeal to the government of Ghana to swiftly come to the aid of traders affected by the recent fire outbreak at the Adum Market in Kumasi.
During a visit to the devastated market area on Monday, April 14, the MP led a delegation from the Minority Caucus in Parliament to commiserate with victims and assess the extent of damage.
In a passionate address, Afenyo-Markin called on the government to act with urgency and use resources from Ghana's contingency fund to alleviate the traders' plight and fast-track reconstruction efforts. "I take this opportunity to make a humble plea to the government of Ghana, that looking at the situation we find here, obviously the traders are suffering.
We know the commitment the government made in some other areas," he said.
