The leadership of Kantamanto Market has rejected claims made by the Ghana Used Clothing Dealers Association (GUCDA), calling them misleading and unrepresentative of the real voices within the market.

In a statement, the leadership reaffirmed their commitment to transparency, sustainability, and continued collaboration with The OR Foundation.

According to them, GUCDA represents only a small group within the secondhand clothing trade - primarily importers - and not the broader community of head porters (kayayei), tailors, upcyclers, resellers, and small-scale retailers who power Kantamanto's daily commerce. "GUCDA does not represent us," the leadership emphasized, referencing an earlier public declaration.

They urged the media and development partners to draw a clear line between the claims of GUCDA and the realities of Kantamanto trading hub.
