Security analyst, Richard Kumadoe has called on authorities to focus on identifying and apprehending individuals responsible for supplying sophisticated weapons to factions involved in the ongoing Bawku conflict.

He believes that addressing the source of these arms is crucial to curbing the violence in the area. Kumadoe's remarks follow a violent confrontation on Thursday, April 10, between police and local youth in Bawku, which resulted in fatalities and injuries.

During the unrest, the private residence of Bawku Central Member of Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, was allegedly set on fire. In an interview on Citi FM's Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Friday, April 11, Kumadoe emphasized the need to tackle the high-profile individuals behind the supply of weapons to prevent the youth from accessing firearms. "There's a supply and demand, we should rather be tackling the big people who give them the guns and deal with them precisely.

From a crime prevention point of view, then these young ones will not have access to guns," he suggested.
