The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has concluded its quarterly review process for electricity and water tariffs for the first and second quarters of 2025.

Following this review, PURC announced an upward adjustment of 14.75% for electricity tariffs and 4.02% for water tariffs, effective May 3, 2025.

The Commission explained that the adjustments were influenced by several key factors, including the cedi-to-dollar exchange rate, inflation, the hydro-thermal electricity generation mix, and the cost of natural gas (Weighted Average Cost of Gas).

In addition, 50% of an outstanding revenue of GHS976 million carried over from 2024 was incorporated into the adjustments, with the remainder to be recouped in subsequent quarters.
